He Will Make A Way

Many times we find ourselves in the midst of the storm — depression, broken-heartedness, worry, strife; the loss of a job, financial hardship, unexpected change — and we wonder how we’re going to make it through. It becomes easy to let our anxieties take control rather than setting our post in uSoNINI NaNINI. But as long as we put our trust in Him, He will make a way.

   Can worry change the course of the day?

   uMsindisi addresses the common worries of the people — the very same ones we deal with today. Does our worrying help the work of the Most High? Not likely. The same uSomandla who created the heavens and the earth, who supplies the needs of the birds of the air and the flowers of the field, every beast and every creeping thing — He is the same uSomandla who created us and continues to care for us. His ways are not our ways. They are better.

   Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

   A correction of priority.

   He is not telling the people that their needs do not matter. He is reminding them that the Most High already knows what they need. When we place our focus on tomorrow, we lose sight of today. When we fix our eyes on lack, we forget the Provider. But when we seek first the Kingdom of the Most High and His righteousness, everything else falls into its proper place. The instruction is simple, but it is not easy: trust the Father with tomorrow, and walk faithfully today.

   But seek ye first the kingdom of uSomandla, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

   Trusting the Most High does not always mean understanding what He is doing. It means believing that He is faithful even when the way is not yet visible.

   Not the absence of fear — the presence of trust.

   David knew fear. He knew uncertainty. And in the midst of it he makes a bold confession — not about what he sees, but about who the Most High is. He is not pretending danger doesn’t exist; he is declaring where his confidence is anchored. When he says fear does not rule him, he is not saying fear never shows up. Later he admits he would have fainted unless he believed he would see the goodness of uSoNINI NaNINI in the land of the living. Trust does not mean we are never tired or overwhelmed. It means we choose to believe even when we are.
